Anderson was a member of the Annihilators, the original 9th Air Force Group, which was the first group to fly missions over the European theater. Anderson was a mechanic and worked on famous planes such as “King’s Row”, “Pin-Up Girl” and “The Old Vet.” He started with the 147th Field Artillery and then transferred to the air corps. He received a Bronze Star and Presidential citation.
