Kronlokken was at Chofo Hydroponic Farm, Company F, Tokyo Quarter master depot. In 1954, the farm shipped 12,000,000 lbs. of vegetables to Army units. Two thirds went to Korea. The Farm employed more than 800 Japanese citizens and had 55 acres of hydroponic beds and 270 acres of soil farm.

Peterson was aboard the USS Ward when it was attacked by kamikaze pilots near Ponson Island in the Philippines. The damage was severe and the ship had to be abandoned. All hands were rescued but Peterson sustained a serious head injury and was permanently disabled as a result.
