Gilkyson was a parachute rigger. He was responsible for all the gear he is wearing in the photo and the safety equipment on the airplanes. He served on the USS Ranger and sailed to Vietnam, Hong Kong and Hawaii. Planes from the Ranger flew Agent Orange into Vietnam. He also served on the USS Bennington.
